Who uses it
Sourcing and supply-chain teams
Every registered site that can manufacture, test or pack a drug, by country and operation, with a shortage flag on each product.
CDMO and API business development
A clean prospect list: companies resolved across DECRS, the NDC directory and the Orange Book, segmented so medical gas and feed mills drop out.
Investors and analysts
Product counts, application counts, patent counts and current shortage exposure per company, in one table that joins to the rest.
Distributors and pharmacies
Which labellers hold the products now in shortage or due to be discontinued, by NDC.

Coverage and updates
- Every establishment on the FDA drug register worldwide, every NDC in the openFDA directory, and every FDA shortage record including resolved ones.
- The FDA sources are ingested every Monday; the file is rebuilt and versioned by date after each ingest. Subscribers receive the latest version once a month.
- Shortage exposure joins on the package NDC printed in each shortage record, which matches about 95% of current shortages. The FDA feed has no reason-for-shortage field, and the file does not invent one.
- About one registrant in five is not pharma (medical gas, medicated feed, home medical equipment); each company carries a segment so you can drop them.
Sources and licence
- FDA DECRS, the openFDA NDC directory, the FDA Orange Book and the FDA drug shortage database.
- Licence: US government public domain; our compilation and cleaning. The records are public domain. What you buy is the company resolution, the joins and the weekly upkeep.
- Use it inside your organisation, including in products and reports you sell. Do not resell or republish the compiled files themselves as a dataset. Refunds within 14 days if the file is not what this page describes.
- No personal data: contact names and emails in the FDA registration file are excluded, and nothing a company supplied by claiming its profile is included.
Every company is also free to read on its own page, from the register to the shortage tracker. How the joins are made is on the methodology page. A custom cut (one country, one operation, one therapeutic category): [email protected].
